Community Supervision Mental Health Programs Community Supervision Mental Health provides a continuity of care for defendants that have been identified as suffering from a mental illness. The Community Supervision Mental Health Program provides intensive case management to defendants from the time of arrest until the adjudication of their charges Strafford County Community Supervision Mental Health Program monitors defendants through the following programs;

Intake Assessments:Interview all persons detained by state and local law enforcement departments prior to that person’s arraignment/bail hearing, and to provide the court with relevant and verified information to help determine an appropriate bail. Determine the level of Mental Health services the defendant needs to be released from the House of Corrections. Pretrial Supervision: Provide a degree of supervision that will monitor compliance with bail conditions and assure appearance to court. Some standard requirements of this supervision are compliance with no contact orders, compliance with Mental Health Treatment, random drug and alcohol testing, and curfew. Administrative Home Confinement: Specific form of supervision to an individual who has been found guilty of a crime. Movement in the community is closely monitored with minimum time away from home allowed for work or other needs. Strict compliance with Mental Health Treatment. Step-Down: Unique to Strafford County.; this program rewards sentenced inmates who prove by their attitudes and actions that they are taking responsibility for their crimes and addressing those areas of concern identified by the court. MH Supervision helps coordinate their mental health services to help integrate the inmate back to society. |
Program Goals *Reduce the recidivism rates among people with mental health diagnoses. *Promote engagement in treatment and improve quality of life. *Increase community awareness and safety. *Provide defendants with proper coping skills in regards to their individual mental health issues and live a more productive life. *Provide outreach and support to defendants throughout the judicial process.
